JIMMY BUFFET TRIBUTE COMES TO PRINCETON

FOR FIRST ANNUAL “LITTLE BUDDY LUAU”

(Princeton WV) Parrotheads in the two Virginias are rejoicing.

Parrotheads, for those who don’t know, are the rabid fans of singer/songwriter Jimmy Buffet and they’re in for a big treat.

Parrots of the Caribbean, the ultimate salute to Jimmy Buffet, is coming to the brand new Chuck Mathena Center in Princeton Saturday September 13th as the headline entertainment for the first ever “Little Buddy Luau” in conjunction with Little Buddy Radio. The Little Buddy Luau event will be a fundraiser for the Denver Foundation as well as the new non-profit Chuck Mathena Center.

“Little Buddy” was the name affectionately given to television icon Bob Denver’s character by his best pal “The Skipper” on the mega-popular Gilligan’s Island television show.

Denver was a Princeton resident for many years preceding his death in 2005. Denver’s wife Dreama continues to oversee Little Buddy Radio and the non-profit Denver Foundation and their work for disadvantaged children, and will be heavily involved in the Little Buddy Luau.

She plans to attend the event to meet her late husband’s many fans, and came up with the idea of bringing the Buffet tribute to the area because of a huge personal appearance the Gilligan’s Island stars did on stage with Jimmy Buffet in the late 1990’s.

“It was a perfect combination of island castaways and island music. Jimmy Buffet fans went nuts when they saw the real Gilligan, Mary Ann and the Professor on stage with Jimmy. They just seemed to fit together”, remembers Ms. Denver.

The Parrots of the Caribbean perfectly replicate the Jimmy Buffet concert experience, with note-perfect renditions of the biggest Buffet hits including “Margaritaville”, “Come Monday”, “Son of a Sailor”, “Cheeseburger In Paradise” and “A Pirate Looks at Forty”. In addition, the band will bring the brightly colored beach attire and laid back party vibe of a Jimmy Buffet show to the Chuck Mathena Center for the fun-filled “Little Buddy Luau event.

Parrots of the Caribbean leader Dave Albrecht sounds and looks so much like Buffet that fans often mistake him for the real Jimmy Buffet. The vocal and physical resemblance is so strong that Albrecht portrayed Jimmy Buffet for many years with the popular LEGENDS IN CONCERT show, familiar to Las Vegas and Branson visitors.

Now, he brings the Buffet party on the road across America performing over 100 concerts a year with Parrots of the Caribbean.

Tickets for the first ever “Little Buddy Luau” with Parrots of the Caribbean Saturday September 13th are on-sale now at www.bobdenver.com, www.chuckmathenacenter.org and at the Chuck Mathena Center box office.

Four different donation pricing packages are available, some of which will include a special luau dinner before the concert, the chance to win autographed Gilligan’s Island and other classic TV memorabilia, the chance to meet the band and much more.

“The Little Buddy Luau featuring The Parrots of the Caribbean may sell out due to the many die-hard Jimmy Buffet fans in the area, so folks that are interested in attending the show are encouraged to get their tickets in advance,” said Ms. Denver, who added “the Chuck Mathena Center is a wonderful venue for the show. If you haven’t been inside yet, you’ll be blown away…it’s a beautiful facility!”
